Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating the Christmas season with some special events, including the start of the Letters from Santa program.
Now through Monday, Dec. 16, parents and grandparents can ask Santa to send their favorite child a personalized letter for Christmas. Forms are available at the Central Park Office, 117 E. Canal St., or on the city’s website under Parks Department Holiday Events. The cost is $2 per letter.
Also, in another annual event that welcomes the holiday season, the Light Up The Night celebration has been set for Friday, Dec. 6, in Central Park. At 7:30 p.m., the huge Christmas lights display is lit for the first time.
The lighting follows the Twinkle Parade, which steps off from the downtown area at 7 p.m. Last year, more than 40 parade entries were featured, all sparkling in Christmas lights and decorations.
After the parade, take a stroll through Central Park where more than 200,000 Christmas lights are displayed. The Light Up The Night event also welcomes Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday entertainment and more surprises.
